Meeting Minutes of 1/10/2005

Attendees: B. Sexton, J. Campbell, T. Hutchins, R. Meyer

1) Kal Haven Relay – (Bonnie) – Scheduled for 02 Apr 05, Terry putting together brochure, proceeds to support Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund (Dave to investigate), $7 per person, Awards – maybe engraved spikes?, mention and have brochure ready at Borgess Run Camp visit by KAR (12 Mar 05), recruit volunteers – Red Cross (contact Richard Martinovich and Sean)?, offer aid stations, reserve right to go out and back depending upon weather / participation, group rate for trail use may be $35 (Dave pursuing, and will discuss with Blaine and Chris how much was allocated from BRC registration fee)

2) Championship Series – (Jay) – Leave scoring as is, Add following races: Race for Cure, Human Race (B.C. ), Ken Coates (Galesburg), Ready or Not 5 (Otsego)

3) Marathon Training Program – Bonnie) – 81 participants, approximately $180 in new memberships as a result, $250 allocated for course support, Bonnie to look into discount, support from Meijer, Walmart, Target

4) KAR visit to Borgess Run Camp – KAR scheduled to meet with run campers on 12 Mar 05, all officers encouraged to participate! Bonnie to develop agenda

5) Healthy Kids Day – (Bonnie) – YMCA event, is scheduled 20 May 05, the day before Race for the Cure, Bonnie going to investigate if Race for Cure has Kids event, need to decide if both can be supported, KAR role would be refreshments and volunteer to distribute refreshments expected cost approximately $100, market through Weekly Rundown, Race Expo

6) Annual Election Meeting – consider having the event at a banquet type facility and obtaining a guest speaker (Dave to investigate)

7) BCRR Merger Update – membership transferred by end of Jan, approx. 50

8) Board Positions – want to create positions for more people to encourage involvement, especially (but not limited to BCRR!), considered Technology Support for Pat (to back up Jay and Charlie), BC Community Liason for Toni, Marketing position (to support Bonnie) for Jane, we will establish sub committees on an as needed basis to organize some events.

9) Newsletter – need to publish quarterly, timely, distribute hard copy to YMCA, Gazelle, articles a definite benefit

10) Summer Workouts planned through Gazelle for High School kids – maybe coordinated with Dan Roberts and KAR’s Tuesday night workouts

11) Next meeting 14 Feb 05, 7 pm, location to be determined
