Meeting Minutes of 2/7/2005

Attendees: Dave Walch, Bonnie Sexton, Ralph Meyer, Pat and Toni Gallagan, Jane Rolf, Scott Taylor,

1) Financial Statement provided by Ralph

2) Annual Meeting
· No speaker has been found yet. Dave has a list of potential speakers. Toni is going to ask the new Kellogg CEO, Jim Jeness.
· Bonnie suggests moving the date back. It must be done by April 1. March 28 (Monday) is the proposed date. The 28th is good. Leave open the 21st of March to give flexibility in finding a speaker and site.
· Site: Borgess Health and Fitness, Damon’s ($100 deposit) 25-60 people with dinner costing between $10-20, Damon’s also caters. Toni can enquire about Kellogg’s facilities. Bonnie is also checking on NCC facilities.
· Check on other caterers such as Olive Garden, and Qdoba.

3) Easter Egg Hash Run and Kids Hash Run
· March 26th at 11:00 at Al Sabo Preserve.
· Meet at KVCC parking by the tennis courts.
· Duties – Bonnie will get copies made. Ralph or Dave can do the copies in black and white. Dave and Steve will set the trail and monitor the adult run. Toni and Pat will monitor the kids run. Bonnie will get subs and post run snacks. Water, Gatorade, fruit… Jane will help with cookies (many dozens). Bonnie will get plates and stuff.
· Raffle – Ralph has socks to give away. Gazelle gift certificate ($25), Easter baskets for the kids, 2 adult Easter baskets, Dave will get the baskets for the kids and adults.

4) Visit to Borgess Run Camp
· Bonnie has a hand out with everyone’s speaking roles.
· March 12th at the Portage Y at 7:45am.
· Ralph will speak for Charlie if he cannot make it.
· Scott to take Steve’s talk on hash runs if he is not there.
· Socks can be tossed out to the crowd. 4 pair or so.

5) Kal-Haven Trail Relay
· Entry forms handed out.
· Chris Crowell will supply some of the course support.
· The run is on Saturday April 2
· Negotiations are taking place with the parks department concerning trail use fee.
· KAR will try to have support stations. We will need volunteers for the stations. There may be over 300 runners altogether on the trail that day including run campers, Boston to Bayshore trainees, and others relay runners. Chris Crowell can take the first couple of water stops. We will staff the stops on the final 20 miles.
· Awards – railroad spike trophies. Dave is on the spike hunt.
· Handicapping the awards will have to wait to next year. We are not sure of how many will be participating this year.

6) Trail Marathon - Course certification – Wayne Young in Battle Creek has certified courses in BC. This is not necessary for this race but possible future trail marathon will need it done. Who could sponsor it? Is this something we want to do? Bonnie will do some initial meetings with people like Don Kern who have done it before.
· Place on next month’s agenda. Initial planning.

7) Update on BCRR Merger
· Toni and Pat have over $400.00 in BCRR renewals for 2005. They are going to contact folks who still haven’t sent in their dues so they can transition funds and memberships to KAR all at once.
· All memberships will be transitioned by March 15 so that paid up members can participate in the election vote.
· Any BCRR members who are not paid up by March 15, will be on their own and will just join KAR through our usual membership application process.
