Minutes - October 3, 2006

Turkey Trot Update - Assignments. KAR to pick up prizes and give aways. Cindi to ask Gazelle for give aways and race numbers. Dave will take care of turkeys. Carrie will bring apple pies. Bonnie will bring cups and KAR apparel. Ralph to bring socks. Bonnie will try to recruit some additional volunteers. Carrie will bring flyers for Run Thru the Lights, One One and Marathon Training Program.

Brochure Update - Bonnie has brought some revisions. Cindi mentioned that we can add Komen Race for the Cure (May 19) as they are participating in the race discount program. Carrie discussed some printing costs for color versus two color. It was decided to go with the two color. As soon as the revisions are made, Carrie will forward to KAR board for final approval and take to PrintMill for final printing.

Miscellaneous - Bonnie to check with RRCA about e-mailing their newsletter to all members versus posting on website.

Halloween Hash Run - Bonnie, Dave, Sherrie and Carrie will be there race day. Bonnie will assist with prepping run for the kids. The distance for the older kids this year will be longer; perhaps the fitness trail for the younger ones. We need several volunteers to man the kids course. Carrie will provide pumpkins, corn shocks and some decorations along with husband's speaker system and music. Sherrie will pick up gift certificate from Gazelle Sports. Dave will get donuts and cider. Bonnie will provide tableware.

Club Series Party & Presentation - slideshow presentation (PowerPoint) will be running as guests enter the door. Cindi looking for multiple person photos - another 75 -100. The second presentation is of the winners. She is looking for photos of them (two if possible). Consider caricatures if no picture available. Cindi will send list of missing people out. Need to contact Giti regarding payment for cakes. Sherrie/Dave to announce winners, Bonnie will tell short personal story about each of the winners. Sherrie is still finalizing list of winners (by October 15). A personal note will go out to each of the award winners. Flyers will go out this week to the members, website and paper to YMCA and Gazelle. Five trophies needed for kid winners. Also, $10 gift certificates as well. Carrie will get and bring mugs as well. Possible raffle ideas from Gazelle, as well as purchasing gift certificates. (Sherrie and Cindi will handle). Also, socks and KAR technical shirts (Bonnie and Ralph). Bonnie will bring raffle tickets.

Annual Banquet - Kalamazoo Country Club will be the location. We will contact Randy Step about being guest speaker as no results from Hansen brothers. Possible dates in March? Dave will ask Randy for his availability. KAR will offer to pay hotel stay. Another possibility, Tammy from Running Fit? Bonnie suggested Don Kern as well.

Map/Training Article - Phil will be posting all of our articles regarding training and maps of running routes on the KAR website. Bonnie is working on finalizing the maps. The maps will be itemized by location. The maps will be out there by November 30 (for marathon training).

Marathon Training Program Package - try and get the package out on the website and on paper ASAP, pending some discussions with Gazelle. Titled “The Beyond”. Orientation to be at Borgess Health & Fitness. Gazelle will give clinic - perhaps 20-30 minutes. KAR will do orientation about program, hydration issues. Pizza to be served. This will be done in place of KAR meeting for December. Cindi will provide pizza, all others to bring beverages. KAR to provide informal pace group leaders. Sherrie, Bonnie and Carrie are preliminary leaders. Packets to be assembled for orientation. Carrie will compile them in folders. The folders will include the schedule of runs and the training programs as well as the registration forms. Maybe Gazelle will assist with discount coupon - to be confirmed. Forms to be in neon green.

Kalamazoo Klassic - meetings will be starting in November. Danielle from MRC would like to see more involvement from KAR. KAR/Klassic board members to provide updates on Kalamazoo Klassic meetings at KAR meetings. Start at January 2007meeting.
